Are you open year-round?
Yes, we are open throughout the year however our hunting season usually runs from mid-May to mid-October. This is the winter in Zimbabwe and the weather is cool in the evenings and warmer during the days.
What should I pack?
A recommended packing list:
- Laundry is done daily, so we advise that you should only need 3 or 4 sets of hunting clothes
- We prefer the dark green/brown or cammo for hunting
- No military cammo. While cammo is great for hunting, we advise against wearing this while traveling to and around Zimbabwe.
- Most importantly will be a good pair of comfortable hunting boots
- A light rain jacket is recommended if the weather should change.
- A warm jacket for evening and mornings,
- As well as comfortable closed shoes for around camp
- Camp power is on a generator system which runs in the early mornings and evenings
- It is 220v so please bring any necessary converters. If using a CPAP machine, please let us know if advance so we can advise on adaptors etc
- Personal medication and toiletries.
- Please advise us of any medical conditions and any allergies
- Soft gun bag for your weapon on the back of the truck –
- Please check with your travel agent about traveling with weapons and ammunition on various airlines
- There maybe prior notification needed and a weight limit on the ammunition .Zimbabwe allows 11lb of ammunition into the country
- We strongly advise that you contact Global Rescue for medical insurance cover for international cover and evacuation.
- While we endeavour to keep you safe, safaris are an inherently dangerous sport.
What are the estimated travel times from Harare International Airport to Matendere Ranch?
Estimated travel times are a 1 hr flight or a 410km drive (approx. 4.5 hrs).
Do you offer specialised safaris?
Yes, we tailor each safari to suit your needs. we also offer safaris across Africa, so if there is an adventure that you have been dreaming about, we can plan it with you. Please contact us with your request and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Can you film my safari?
Filming is available on request. We work with several well established companies that can create fantastic films of your adventure. Please contact us for more information.
What is involved in the export of my trophies?
All charges on the export of trophies are billed directly to the client by the export agent. The agent will contact you directly for all necessary paperwork.
What is your camp power supply?
Our camp runs off a 220v generator system on a British style type G plug point (three rectangular pins). Please bring the necessary electrical converters if you require.
What are the suggested gratuities?
Gratuities are solely at the clients discretion, however, we can provide a tip list to give you a general idea.
